Charging XTS5000 in NTN7209?

Post by Kenneth Jensen »

Is this the right charger for an XTS5000 with NI-MH RNN4006 battery?
I ask this because i dont think it will fully charge the battery.
Thanks

from memory, i think the 7209 is the shoe charger.

it should charge your 4006 just fine

however

that battery takes about 3 hrs to charge, even in an impres adaptive charger... so it wouldn't surprise me at all for the 7209 to take 4-5 hours to charge it.

Ok - I think the battery then is bad (dated 227 - but not used much) - because i have 2 of the 7209 charger - and they both not charge it fully - the low battery beep comes on tx high power - but not on low power - even after sitting overnight in the charger (i heard that it charges the battery even when the lamp turns green?)

NiMH batteries have significantly shorter cycle lives compared to NiCd or LiIon. A 4.5 year old NiMH is probably toasted.

Pick up an impres charger and order some NTN9862Bs. 2.75Ah for the runtime you're used to, LiIon for long life/no memory/significantly lower self-discharge.

Yes - I need a new battery - but I want an battery that can be charged in my shoe (7209) charger - so it will be an NI-CD - or NI-MH

You should've purchased an impres shoe charger from Doug when he had hundreds for sale!

Seriously, I've never been that happy with the results of the old shoe charger. Upgrade to impres... it's worth the extra fundage.
