Which Programming Cable??

Post by ve6inm »

I have a confguration with a VHF Astro Digital Spectra running dual W4 control heads. Also in the vehicle is a UHF XTL5000 with dual W4 control heads. I have the XTL2500 programming cable, but nothing for the XTL5000. With dual heads, do I still program via front mic jack of the Primary (front) head, or will I be using the Secondary (rear) control head plug on the radio chassis itself? I can't find a darn thing in the manuals about this, and if I have to order a new cable from Moto, I want it to be the correct one.
Thanks!!

cable

I use the XTL5000 cable in the mic connector for a dash mount and the keyload port on the remote mount. There may be other options but those two work 100%

You could do the programming via the rear accessory connector on the XTL5000. There is a serial connection cable that will go directly from the radio to your serial port on the computer. No electronics is needed.

The cable is not hard to make. Just need the pins to fit the rear connector on the radio.
