XTS2500 Question, Re: Secure

Post by FMROB »

Ordering an xts2500. It is going to be p25, and I will need it to be des-ofb equppied, however can't afford that at the present moment.

Is it difficult to make this unit secure latter. Is it as simple as adding the proper module, or is there more involved.

Thanks, Rob

Add the desired module & check "secure equipped" in the CPS. It's then ready to roll & get keyloaded.

Todd,

My dealer is telling me that I have to order the following:

Option Q811 P25 (Which I need)

Option Q668 Des-Ofb @ $599

Option Q159 UCM Module @ 112

What should I order. Is it just a module, or do I need to update the firmware to make it secure capable.

Thanks, Rob

Is it possible to order encryption separately from the radio?

I would say Option Q159 UCM Module is the blank board (Hardware) and the Q668 is the algo (Software) flashed to the encryption board. You need an encryption algo flashed to a board or the board is completely useless, ie blank.

In lay mans terms the UCM is the computer and DES-OFB is the operating system.
