Spectra Radio Error

Post by ChrisM »

I am working on some Spectra radios in my shop and we have several radios that have come up with "Error 09/10". This is a secure channel VHF Astro Spectra. The error only occurs when in the secure mode. I was wondering if anyone else has had this error and if it is possible to correct it without changing the circuit cards. We have the equipment and part numbers for the cards if we need to change them out but were looking to do it a little cheaper. I would appreciate whatever assistance possible.

That error means that the radio cannot find the secure hardware that it has been told is present. If the radio is not supposed to have secure hardware installed, go into the codeplug and disable "Secure Hardware Equipped".

More specifically, it means the module isn't responding properly. Either the module is absent or it has been damaged.

Depending on the vintage of UCM and radio, you might need to look at SRN1364, which requires removal of a few components to reduce loading on the clock line, which can lead to ER 09/10s.

The radios are equipped with the secure modules. I have fixed one of the modules that had been shaken loose. The other radios that had the problem actually need the cards replaced. I appreciate the assistance.
