MDC1200 on XTS3000 and 5000

Post by MTS2000 »

Hi,

What option do I need on an XTS3000 or 5000 to decode MDC1200 PTT-ID's besides the H14 Digital ID Display option?

Thanks

I believe H14 is all you need to decode MDC1200

Ok I didn't know if I might need the H35 Conventional Operation option as well as the H14 option to do that.

You can have H35 or H38 as a system package for example, but as long as you have H14 in your flash.... you are good to go.

I assume the same would hold true for an MTS2000 that is only currently flashed for H38 Smartzone? And if so how much is the H14 option running for these days for a non government person or is the price the same across the board?

H14 may be only an Astro line option, however I am not too familar with the MTS line.

H35 will always be the minimum package in a radio.
H37 includes H35
H38 Included H37 and H35
Etc

I want to say that ID Display is an option, but I can't say for sure. If it is, expect to pay about $75ish for it from your local MSS + any programming charges if they tack them on.

I don't know about the 3000 but the 5000 needs newer firmware as well. I forget the exact level but I thought it was 4.0 and above in addition to the ID Display flash option mentioned earlier.

Well the current firmware verison in my MTS2000 is 6.40. And as far as I know I have never had the MDC1200 option under the signalling tab in the individual channel personality's. Unless I need to create a MDC system in the software and go from there?

for the mts i believe to decode MDC you need flash option Q181, for example the flash i have in my model 3...

H260 250 Modes on W3 and W4 (150 or 160 channels for MTS2000)
H101,G101,H169 Conventional Repeater Access (Analog Operation Only)(MDC1200 or Singletone)
H451 GE STAR Signaling
G170/H43 Remote Monitor and Radio Trace
H39 Selective Radio Inhibit
H37/G50 Smartnet Operation
Q181 Add StatAlert (MDC1200) Features
H270/H738 MDC Status Message
Q190 Channel change ID
Q387 Conventional voting scan

the radio has the newest firmware, i believe you need over 6.XX, so yours should be fine if you get it flashed. im not sure how much it runs.

and under the signalling tab on my radio it comes up with MDC.

I do not think the XTS5000 needs newer firmware to decode or encode MDC1200. There is a UHF XTS5000 on ebay right now that the guy says has ver 3 firmware both Host and Dsp and in the video's he as in the auction it shows it decoding MDC1200 ID's with the DOS feature enabled.

That would be me.

I figiured I'd plug in some MDC stuff to try out on the V 3.00.00 radios.

Sure enough, they'll encode/decode eachother- as well as my other radios just fine.

I made the videos to address potential buyers.

Several ebayers emailed me with the same general message:

  • 1. Your radio is NOT an XTS5000R, the label says XTS5000. -Good thing I didn't use the pink picture
    2. "Q" Means it's an 800 radio. - HAHAHA
    3. The radios have developmental codeplugs.
    4. They CANNOT do MDC1200- Watch the video

I dropped some knowledge and told them to bid elsewhere...

You have to setup a mdc system, then enable it in the personality.
