XTS3000 Programming Question

XTS3000 Programming Question

I have a newer laptop that does not have a 9 Pin port. Will a USB to DB9 adapter using the Rib and cable work for programming? I have an older laptop running win 98 and when I run the newest version of CPS I get a message saying that CPS may not run correctly.
