Two Lines Of Text - XTS2500 Mod 1.5 Display?

Post by srk »

Hopefully not a really dumb question - maybe a bad assumption: Using CPS R08.00.00 for the first time on Model 1.5 XTS2500's - Can anybody confirm that you can do TWO lines of text for Channel Names? The specs say two lines of text plus icons - the illustration in the user guide shows two lines but I cannot figure out how to get more than one line of 12 characters.
Thanks (fingers crossed I haven't overlooked something obvious)

It is one line of text for the mode name and the second line is where can put in text that makes that radio unique, like the radio alias name, radio owner, or the 7 digit ID as examples.

You put in the second line in the Radio Wide/General tab options at the bottom. Check off box is called "radio alias" and type in what you want.

This is valid for all of the xts2500's, xts1500's, and mt1500 radios that all use the same display and plastic.

That line is also used to display MDC PTT-ID aliases.

It is probably also a significant codeplug change as well, and with that - probably wasn't enough demand for it.

As a road officer, emt, or firefighter - how often do you find the need to look down at your display to see what ID is talking? Not super often.

I thought the trunking ID's on the 3k's show up on line 2 anyway.

They do.

I never quite got why they used the 2nd line for trunk ID's and the 1st line for others on the XTS3k and Astro Saber.

Yeah true, but during a conventional scan I find it a pain in the rear to try and workout what channel you are on when all you see is Digital ID's, it is a shame moto didin't put Digital IDs and Soft ID's on the second line with trunking ID's... I guess at Motorola they don't let the Left hand know what the Right is doing. :)
