MTS2000 / CPS too new?
I was under the impression that the MTS CPS *just* upgraded. I am using 02.00.01. The radio (H01RDH9PW1BN) is R05.13, so it should be pre-toolproof, right?
What 'zactly do I need here?
Thanks!

Is this in relation to another thread? What do you want to do?High_order1 wrote:I was under the impression that the MTS CPS *just* upgraded. I am using 02.00.01. The radio (H01RDH9PW1BN) is R05.13, so it should be pre-toolproof, right?

I just got a new radio. I've been waiting for the ribless cable to attempt to read the radio.
First attempt, loong beep, then I got codeplug too new.
Second attempt, short normal beep, then got codeplug too new, and "pass II unable to unpack block vector for external radio blk from CpDb to Db unpack failed."
My 1.6Ghz notebook doesn't have a serial port, and I am using a Targus USB breakout box. I am searching on that topic as we speak. Could that be the problem?
I am used to programming in RSS, HT1000's and STX 821's. I have researched this a bit prior to asking.
1 - How am I [moderated] this up? The latest revision of CPS has just came out. I am having troubles believing the radio's been read with it.
2 - How do I [moderated] it?
Anything helpful would be welcomed....

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
if you got an error message saying codeplug too new then your cps and com ports are working correctly, the only way around it is newer cps or try to write an older codeplug with the same model and flash to it. if you just got the radio it is definately possibel that it was blanked out right before you got it. the latest cps update i got was 2.01.00 so go to your account and just download the newest cps and you'll be in business.

It's also possible since it's a pre-toolproof radio, that the codeplug in it isn't necessarily an MTS2000. Do you have an older DOS computer with the DOS RSS on it perhaps? You should have at least received the RSS v6.08.00 on a floppy along with the CPS CD...at least I always have.
I'd try with the CPS on a computer with a real serial port. If that doesn't work, try the RSS in DOS to see if it's perhaps a hacked radio with an MTX8000 codeplug in it or something.

The guy I do radio stuff for has been sick, so trying to upgrade right now isn't a possibility. I will start looking for a computer with a real serial port, and I'll also dust off the ol' RSS laptop.
I'd try another codeplug, but I don't have lab, and even though the factory tag is intact, it doesn't list the flash, so I have no way (that I know of) to determine its' flash.
Thanks for all the pointers!

I believe they stopped sending the DOS version a revision or two ago.......wavetar wrote:It's also possible since it's a pre-toolproof radio, that the codeplug in it isn't necessarily an MTS2000. hmmm
I think what I have in dos is 06.05.00 or thereabouts.
Nope, I don't know how to tell if its' a recased unit or not. I disassembled it, but I don't know enough about them to know one from the other. It's the full keypad version. The LCD readout and the tag matches. Bout all I know to do until I can go get the 286 and take a shot at it that way.
And, I emailed the guy I bought it from. I'm hoping he can tell me more.
OH - I tried to program my HT1000 with the CPS, and of course, it said Unsupported model, so I feel pretty confident that end of the system is not the problem...
Thanks again,
Shawn

Is that the same as wookie? I *think* I have that somewhere...
Thanks!
I'm still looking for an older codeplug to try to force in, too....
