I just purchased a Astro Spectra on Ebay for about $400
Model Number: T04UJH9PW9AN
Serial Number: 494AAC0462
Flash Code: 000004-002000-2
System Package: G50
Memory Size: 1Meg
As you can see the hardware supports Digital Astro Operation but the flashcode does not. Is there any way to modify the flash code OR do I have to get a new one from /\/\?
FWI, I have the SRib, flash and programing cables, and CPS that will load flash and read/program the radio.
Can anyone out there help or advise me?

Yes, the internal programing matches the sticker on the outside. This radio is legal.

Ok, so the flashcode on the tags matches the flashcode according to the codeplug.
Two possibilities:
1) The vocon was replaced with one with digital firmware, and the original codeplug was placed into the new vocon
2) The firmware was upgraded on the existing vocon, without modifying the codeplug.
Make sense?

The vocon is the board that contains the Host firmware, DSP firmware, and codeplug information.
Modifications are possible. It requires special software. If you don't already have said software, and I gather that you do not, do not ask for it. There are those on the board who can help you. It would likely require removing the vocon from the radio, and sending it off.

Lets put it this way. The "forbidden software" does not let you go in and turn features on and off like you would think.
For the most part, it lets you cram in another radio's configuration into yours. However, your radio becomes the other one... flashcode, model number, and serial number. It also overwrites the tuning values of the radio, so unless you write them down or can realign the radio, it may not perform very well until you do.
In addition, if you were ever going to send this radio into Motorola for offical serivce, it might get flagged and service not performed.
An offical upgrade to IMBE should cost around $400 or so. I don't know the current pricing on analog to digital is, but I know at one point it was around $600 (400ish if it was VSELP).
