I just picked up an Astro Spectra configured as a motorcycle radio. Unfortunately, I don't have a cable for it. I do have a complete remote conversion kit for an analog spectra though.
Can I pull the motorcycle backplate off the control head, put a Systems9000 backplate (HLN6432B) on it, and use that with the standard remote cable?

The command boards are not the same. Standard board is a HLN5558x. There are 3 different mods for M/C(as well as different P/Ns). They have to do with PTT, audio routing, and headset applications.Your setup with the previously metioned interface PCB may work. But if you have problems, find a layout of the original 5558 standard board. You may have a board labled 5558 that was modified for M\C application, so compare the layout to standard. I worked at the depot on this product and saw many modified boards, as well as built them. The changes only require 0 ohm jumpers installed or removed, so you have a viable radio. Also, I don't remember seeing any 9000 heads used on M\C, so feature set could be an issue. In addition you say Analog spectra, It must be an Astro spectra CH or you will see 01\90 error and inop radio.
Good luck with you project.

Wow... I forgot all about this thread.
I picked up a couple Systems 9000 style control cables and put an analog spectra interconnect on the radio and backplate on the control head and got it to work the way I needed it to.
SG, I'm actually trying to stay away from the MC setup. If I can install three of the same cable in my truck, it'll provide for flexability in the future. Stand by for a PM about another issue though.
