ASTRO Firmware history and service mode help

Post by pacrat551 »

My Firewall will not allow me to view the PDF file direct from the website. Can someone email it to me direct?

I'm in the process of updated my firmware in my ASTRO spectra.

Thanks,

Thanks,
You make it sound like there's a spreadsheet floating around with what changes were made between firmware revisions for the astro spectra?

The PDF you refer to deals with the Astro25 line, not the Astro line, so it doesn't necessarily pertain to your Astro Spectra (an Astro line product).

Perhaps it might be more helpfull if you explained what information relating to firmware updates you were lookng for.

I emailed you the file, but as Akardam pointed out, it doesn't apply to the Astro Spectra.

Ok, thanks, I missed that.

I was just curious as to what fixes / enhancements for each firmware release was. As stated, I'm in the process of updating my firmware..I have 06.04.xx.xx right now. (I'm not sure what the xx.xx means, as my local radio shop got this too when they read it with their CPS) I'm working with them and my Motorola rep to get my radio flash upgrades to P-25 CAI and update the firmware

Can anyone help me with this information and tell me what it means?

When I put my radio in service mode the displays shows the following:

AMR0604
I040310
CNTLHD24
then shows model number and serial number

I've never seen an astro spectra display like this before. The first line should be the firmware version but this is different.

This is a 110 w radio with W9 control head. Model number is T04KLH9PW9AN

First line is HOST
Second line is DSP
Third line is control head firmware rev

That Host/DSP I believe indicates VSELP firmware. What is the flashcode?

Flashcode is 440001-000000-7 I was told in another thread that this radio is VSLEP. I was mainly curious as to what those numbers actually meant.

I know it's Digital ID display, multikey and conventional.

From: http://www.akardam.net/moto/decode2.pl

Code: Select all

H14/G114 H14/G114 Digital ID Display
H869/W969 H869/W969 Hardware Multikey Operation
H35/G48 H35/G48 Conventional Operation
Is what that flashcode translates to.

Yes, you have a dirt-old, non-2.5KHz, VSELP radio.

Thanks for all the input. I need to clarify what I was curious about which numbers.

I was referring to the string of numbers and letters while in service mode, it had just seemed Odd to me to have those letters and numbers like that.

Thanks again

I just heard back from Motorola and my EEPROM is not big enough to support the latest firmware or a P25 upgrade.

Does anyone have any suggestions or spare 1meg eeprom? I have an encryption XL & DVP card thats currently in the radio to begin trading.

I also may need to update the RF board to do narrowband.

Thanks,
