IMPRES bank charger mod

Post by Mfire39 »

So after talking with a few people today and playing around with my XTS IMPRES bank charger, I thought to myself... Does the cooling fan really need to run all the time? I can see if you had all 6 batteries in it or a few at least, but it doesn't need to run 24/7 when there are no batteries in it.

I put together a slide show of my progress installing a switch on my bank charger, that lets you control the cooling fan. It was fairly painless to install, and turned out pretty decent.

Enjoy!

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

I've thought about doing the same... mine sits above my bed (easy to grab'n'go) and the fan noise sucks.

I've also thought about swapping to two slower Panaflo/etc. fans, which are uber-quiet. Knowing me, I'd forget to turn the fans on when a battery was in the charger. Maybe add a thermistor.
