HT750 beeps

I have a HT750 UHF that beeps when battery is attached, but power switch is off and radio appears to be off. What is causing this? I just noticed that battery went dead over week end with switch off. Something is still on.

Have you checked the volume control/switch itself? If you can check current, with the switch truly in off position, the radio should draw no current. With the switch closed and volume control at minimum, radio should draw 50-70 ma. under standby conditions.

I measure 51 ma with radio on and 48 ma with radio off. I see 1.5 meg across switch off with digital meter and 50K across switch off with Simpson 260.
