Post by RFguy »

Does anyone know if there is a USB cable for programming the XTL series with th "05" head?

All I can find is the HKN6183A CABLE, CH PROGRAMMING (RS-232)

Try HKN6184A, that's the number on the one I have.. we ordered both types but so far I've only tried the serial port one.
If I recall correctly you can't use the USB one for flashing.

HKN6184A
CABLE, CH PROGRAMMING USB (GCAI)
45.50 (on MOL)

HKN6183A
CABLE, CH PROGRAMMING (RS-232)
66.35 (on MOL)

We tried to flash the radio via USB but found that it's unreliable compared to using the serial cable no matter what computer was used. Regular CPS programming works fine on both and USB is much faster.
