XTS3000 Noise During Read/Write

Post by Do-Anything »

Hello, I have a XTS3000 That upon Reading and Writing to the Radio produces a high pitched noise. Also, There is a good bit of squelch like noise on transmit. I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and if so what the problem was. I'll be spending a little time at the bench tonight with it and the service manual. :(

I've had a similar issue with my XTS3000 when it's in one of my yellow cases... No idea what causes it, but when I write to the radio it goes CSQ 1 like normal emits open squelch "monitor sound for a second or so and then a very interesting beepy echo sound and then mutes. Only happens sometimes though.

I don't have the Tx problem your discribing though

I've got host 7.10.** and DSP8

i have a similar problem on mine, it xmits a squeal or feedback kinda noise sometimes. i have found that reseating the flex connector from the electronics resolves the issue, but it could be something is fishy with how the microphone is seated too.

Well, it's pretty strange. I have never heard anything like this coming from a radio during reading and, or writing. As for the TX noise, which may be related, I thought about the mic too. I pulled the radio apart and resetted everything and look for any damage. Every thing looks good, but no help. Tried a speaker mic also and still have the noise on TX. If you tap the mic or talk loud into the mic the noise level drops for little bit and then the noise level comes back up.

Just curious... are you using a Motorola branded programming eqpt or aftermarket? If possible, have you tried the same setup on another XTS3000 and gotten the same results?

When was the last time you got the radio aligned? Are you txing out of band?

Nope. Not Txing out of band. Radio is on freq and receive is right on and nice. Astro works but squelch like noise is on TX too. I thought that it was out too, but per the Alignment instructions it is good to go.
Something must be freaky on the RF Board.

My prior XTS's would do this, and my Jedi's appear to switch into CSQ as well during the write process. It may be interference from the networking rack next to my RSS computer, but this is just my experience.

Issues Solved! Questions Remain

Post by Do-Anything »

Hello
First, Thanks very much for all the replies and the people that tried to help. I removed the Secure board part # 0105956V67 des-ofb and des-xl UCM and both issues went away. Now, TX is nice and quite and
no more noise during CPS read and, or Write. And just to make double sure this was the problem, I reinstalled it again and tried it. Yes, issue back. So now one last question. Is the board bad, or is there a programming problem that caused this.
Thanks everyone............

Hi,
I was writng a cp to my UHF R-split 3000 the other night and it was very quite in my radio room and I noticed that mine does the same thing when I write to it. I usually don't turn the volume up when I read or write it, so I never noticed it before. Other than that no detrimental operation.
