We have been trying to program sevreal MCS 2000 radios using version R02.01.00. and unable to read the codeplug. We are using the rib cable that connects to the mic jack. We have tryed three other cables and try to read the radio and was unsuccessful, we also tryed four differant kind of ribs, and three diferant computers two with win xp on it and one with windows 98 ,and all the attempts were unsuccessful. does anyone have any suggestions?

- What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's
that version is pretty old, the radios have probablly been programmed with newer cps and you'll need at least the version last programmed wth to make it work.

Mcs 2000
I had to reinstall my windows xp pro on my computer and reinstall my rss also and now when I try to read my mcs2000 radio it now reads it and gives me that dreaded fail 1/90 code. when I unplug the cable from the radio it resets to operate again as before I tried to read it. This is the same rss that has ever been used on this radio. I used the same rss on my other computer and it works just fine. This is an old version but still good for me Rss R-01.10.00 any help out there would be apprciated. Oh by the way I am using a rib box connection to the mic connection. This rss did work for me before on this computer before I had to redo it.
I just reloaded my computer again with windows xp pro and with the same cps as I have stated R01.10.00 and still will read then give the same fail 1/90 code. Again it works with the same cps on my other computer which is also runing windows xp pro. It used to work on this computer now does not. Help Please.
Fail 01/90 is not a programming error, so it's dufficult to say what is wrong with your programming set-up. That error code means the control head isn't communicating with the main body of the radio. You generally see that error with remote-mount installations in which the front head is powered but the radio is not. I have seen that error on dash mount units as well, though far less often. It is sometimes a power supply issue.
When exactly do you see the error? After completing the read process? Does it successfully read the radio, and then the error pops up after the radio resets?

I had the same problem andd had to send the radio to the big m here in Australia
They told me that the codeplug had become corrupt hence the 01/90 fault the reason for the corruption was trying to download the codeplug with the wrong RSS/CPS version
