I was in the mist of programming a GM300 on a new laptop when I got the following error:
Model Definition File Not Found
Insert Disk
Press F2 to Continue
The program was on a CD, copied onto the hard drive, and used in MS-DOS mode. I can press F2 to Get Data from Radio then the above mesage is received. I tried recopying the whole folder but still got the same message.

Your CD is missing the MDF file that 'tells' the RSS what radio model you have, and what's needed to program it.
I'll bet the CD has corrupt data, and no matter how many times you attempt to correct this, you will always get the same error.
Use the factory disk and install it only from that, it will save future headaches.
Oh, and toss out that CD, better still, break it.

Something to check. Within Windows, navigate to the GM300 folder on the hard drive & right click the mdf file & go to properties. Make sure it's not "read only". Chances are if it was copied from a CD, it's read only. Uncheck the read only box. Also do this for every file within the GM300 folder. Then it should work.
