Spectra/Astro Spectra question

Post by G »

Can an Astro Spectra W3 HHCH and coorsponding interconnect board (MHLN6459) be used on a B7 non-Astro low power Spectra? If so, what must be done (if anything) to make this work (MLM changes, control board, etc.)? If this can't work will anything be damaged (HHCH, interconnect board, radio) if it's connected up anyway?

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

Is the HHCH a True W3 with the LCD dot matrix display, or the two digit red LCD display?
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

A W3 not an A3 or any other HHCH.

In addition: remove analog spectra command, mlm and rf board. Insert astro command, vocon and rf board. Cram in correct s-record, re-tune, program and done.

K, well, I guess the simple answer is no, it won't plug and play. I don't have the astro parts mentioned so I guess my plan is SOL. I was hoping to use this setup with a 900Mhz D37/ B7- I wonder if it's even possible to find a suitable vocon, rf board, astro command board, and s-record for that.

There was NEVER a 900 mhz astro spectra made. You are out of luck.
