iDEN phone surveillance headset

Looking for feedback/comments/criticism/praise for the Motorola iDEN 2wire surveillance set.

We switched to the iDEN Blackberries at work to replace our aging and failing analog system. Of course, the speaker on the BB is no way even acceptable for two-way audio. I was just a protest and I could barely hear anything my desk was trying to tell me.

Now, because iDEN phones have the little PTT ring around the headset connector, does it still work on conventional phones? The BB doesn't have the PTT ring.

I'm only asking because no one carries the set so I have to order it from MOL.
