Hello All and Happy Holidays.
Name hr is John Verser, I was wondering what motorola would work
on 222.000 mhz ham band ? Maybe a Maxtrac ?
Well thanks fer any ideas, Merry Chrismas and New Radio stuff oh

Only thing I'm aware of is some overseas model GP300's cover 220MHz, but certainly no MaxTracs.

HT1250LS+ and CDM1550 will do 220 happily.

Very few systems in the US uses 220 though (at least for my area)

and then there is the GM950i mobile - kind of like a GTX900 mobile or an LCS2000. But even if you get a hold of any one of these overseas moto radios I must assume that you would need to appropriate programming software - and that could be a problem....

I have plenty of HT1250 LS+ and CDM1550LS available from Motorola on "220MHz" Will work great for Ham Band and also the NationWide 220Mhz PassPORT LTR systems in North America.

Nice Radio...Has a VHF shorty antenna bigger than a stubby but shorter than a Heliflex.

Saw a 220Mhz Jedi many years ago.

Radio was for sale for the right price but the RSS wasn't.

We are currently expanding out our markets...currently we have the old AMTS FM almost nationwide..all of the sites are connecting together via PackeTUBE...We are currently trying for UHF too (cobble together) but spectrum is owned by many vs. one so ther personalities and what they should make is harder to iron out. The channels are nice because of no co-channel

Is there really a nationwide 220 system?

EDIT: I couldn't remember the name on the licenses till I searched AMTS... Regionet!

I remember talk about AM, SSB on 220- AS well as MTP years ago. There were 20+ licensees in my home town in Oregon. Never heard ANY activity though. I guess the proprietary trunking data might have played a part in that.

a local site here has a complete package 220 system sitting there taking up space

it has huge chain around it.

there is a note on the rack that says

"SEIZED FOR LACK OF PAYMENT JUNE 1997"

LMAO

nice celwave 220 combiner sitting there getting old tho... and some TPL 100w amps....

Those I believe are the RoameRONE 220Mhz Am stations that were made by securicor/SEA..Sorry to get off topic though with the Non-Moto spiel.

They aren't SEA ESP1000 repeaters with Trident controllers on them, are they Doug? We've got the same situation on one of the sites around here... It's just sat there, powered off, for years.

what a waste of someone's money that little project was.

i bet those systems would have kicked ass too.

220mhz is like the best of both worlds VHF/UHF

too bad the hammies were never given "real" radios and/or easily configured/procured commercial gear to get that band going.

There are (or were as recently as 3 years ago, last time I listened to it) 220MHz SmarTrunk ACSB systems here in Houston. The mobiles I saw were made by EF Johnson, and HUGE.. like, Micor/Mocom huge. I believe the Salvation Army donation pickup trucks and maybe a couple of towtrucks are/were the only users.

Probably a rebanded machine from another manufacturer who does gear for that band. They've been known to rebadge Spectra Engineering gear from time to time.

I recently acquired 3 CDM1550LS+ on the 217-222 band. Has anyone come up with any "hacks" to get these to do 222-225?? I am aware that the radio was initially designed for the entire 217-225 band, but the upper part was removed due to FCC type acceptance (removing the wideband 25 KHz option from the radio to get acceptance). I am also aware that the band limits are coded into the firmware and not the CPS or codeplug. Can anyone out there help me with this?

As far as I know there haven't been any developments. You might try dropping Andreas a PM here on the board (thats his username: Andreas), he might be able to help you as he's very knowledgeable on these radios.

Let me know if you figure it out. I was talking with him about it a while back but didn't have the time to figure it out.
