Maxtrac 2ch Hack?

Post by Rayjk110 »

I've recently aquired a 2ch VHF MaxTrac50 25w mobile. (5 pin, so I don't know if that means the LB is masked). Is it hackable to do more channels with the appropriate face? I know maxtracs, in general, are hackable, but didn't know if the 2ch model was or was not.

Thanks,

Ray.

Sure, should be able to get 16 without any hardware changes beyond the front panel.

What radios do you own?: Motorola, Yaesu

You will have to blank it with Lab and re-initialize the radio with a new panel number. Make sure you do the blanking that save the tuning info so you won't have to realign it. I'm sure the more channels you try to cram in it the less room there will be for signalling options. Six or 8 channels is probably a safe bet.
Look, it's not in my nature to be mysterious. But I can't talk about it and I can't talk about why.
