HT1000 Question

Post by RadioGuru116 »

Silly question. Is there anyway to make a HT1000 do more than 16 channels?

Didnt think so. Thought maybe there was a way to hack into it and change it to do more channels. Thanks for the reply.

From the batlabs main pages:

Visar Specific Information

NOTE: In regards to the Visar's, there is NO way to make them have more than 16 channels. Yes, we know the display looks pretty, and that must surely make the rest of the radio capable of 99 channels. WRONG! There is barely enough codeplug space to handle 16 channels with all the options, let alone any more. There is no provision in the radio's hardware or software to support any more than 16 channels.

Also, there is no way to convert a 800 MHz trunking Visar into a conventional radio, nor convert a Privacy Plus Visar to do Type II trunking. The firmware in the radios is different, and there is no way to change it, other than to change the controller (cheaper to buy a new radio).

Although it says Visar, this also applies to the HT1000.

Alex I dont mean to contradict you but the batlabs main page also says with a different channel selector knob on the HT1000 and the proper hex program hacking you CAN make a HT1000 do 16 channels. The only thing stoping the dial from turning to channel 16 on any model is added plastic in the 2 and 8channel models.

Right?

Right?
The question asked was in reference to doing MORE than 16 channels, not more than 2 or 8.

Somewhat related question. Can the HT1000 be converted to a JT1000 by replacing the firmware and blanking and reinitializing it? A JT does more than 16 channels, doesn't it? Just speculating!
