XTS2500 Popping noise

Post by N4DES »

Anyone know why when you put an encryption board in an XTS2500 Model III you get an annoying pop out of the speaker when the carrier drops?

This is module #2. Thinking there was something wrong with the original we requested an exchange but the replacement is doing exactly the same thing.

Anyone have any experience with this as the Model II's we did work just fine.

Thanks

I opened up a case with Motorola. I'll let everyone know what the resolution is when it comes out.

Case has been closed. The radio had an old version RF decks that were replaced by the plant in Plantation.

The radio operates normally now and FYI to anyone with an early A model radio who may want to install encryption.

The VHF M2 XTS2500 I have sitting here infront of me makes "pop" noises when you push a button, a signal is received, or any other noise for about 10 seconds after power up. I could never figure out why that happens. It does not have an encryption board installed at this time.

Can't help you, but you might want to open up a case if the radio is othewise operating properly or send it to depot if still under warranty.

We have a 1/2 dozen VHF model III's that all work fine without encryption.

I guess I should of clarified that the original radio that had the issue was a 700/800 MHz band radio.

So far it's operating great both in Astro and in Analog, so I've got no reason to deopt it at this time. At least the noise goes away shortly after the radio wakes up.
