Meeting with the factory sales staff

Post by N9LLO »

They sent down 4 guys from Motorola and one from the local dealer the other day to pitch their new stuff. In two hours plus they basically told us our 900 Smartnet system was obsolete and we would love this new IDEN
system they wanted to sell us. I wasn't impressed with these "handsets".
They wouldn't last one 8 hour shift in the hands of out maintenance guys.

The MTX9250's we have now are a step down from the MTX9000's we had before but still better than a phone handset. We bought the 10 channel system (6809 controller, Quantars, and 4 elite gold consoles) But we lease the 650 handheld radios.

I guess when they drop the MTX9250 Our only other source would be the Johnson"Ascend" portable. Does anyone have any feel for those units?
Has anyone here ever installed a LTR controller on a Quantar based Smartnet system?

Looks like /\/\ gave up on their 900 users. Do they even make any mobiles beside the GTX? Ugh, not quite a replacement for the companies maxtracs, spectras, and MCS2000s

I'm looking at the Ascend product info (http://www.efjohnson.com/products/ascendportable.asp), am I correct to say it does LTR and Smartnet/zone in the same radio? Pretty slick!

If they could offer you guys the r750+ iDEN handset, they'll put up to any abuse you can give them, they're used up this way by a Police Service and as such, have the crap beaten out of them all the time.
