DIU Tone Remote Connections

Post by bbrantner »

Guidance requested on the total allowed number of tone remotes that can be connected to a Motorola DIU. Presently the DIU is connected to a Centra Com Gold Elite CEB with four console positions. Would like to add three additional tone remotes and one rec've audio output to an audio amplifer for in building distribution. Can the DIU handle this much loading? Our local radio shop vendor is reluctant to do this.

Any information greatly appreciated.

From the MC1000 Basic Tone Control Deskset ops/install manual 6880309K75-O:

"Up to 10 Desksets can operate in parallel without degradation in performance"

From the info you provided, your plan sounds just fine to me, just make sure all the remotes are bridged, not terminated.

I was assuming the Gold Elite was providing the termination, in which case he would not want the remotes terminated, you are correct, one unit (either the console or a remote) must be 600 ohm terminated, and only one. Chances are, if you have a console it is terminated.
