Is it true that these radios if not bought with the option DO NOT do astro or MDC ID decode????

I was told that it couldnt be done and it was a 75 dollar flash upgrade to have it???

I havent had a chance to fool with the CPS - nor do i have a cable yet to try to do so

They can be purchased as analog only with no astro and the typical astro flash is around $400.

I can't comment on the MDC.

they are astro, apco 25, with encryption i believe not positive, what im looking for here is the ability to DECODE IDs (mdc or astro)

i was told that unless you order the radio with that ability it wont do it and its a flash upgrade to make it work. I want the radio to DECODE IDs

Jason- chill out and listen.

The XTL2500 does NOT do ASTRO Project 25 digital voice in it's most basic configuration.

The unit CAN be flashed for ASTRO operation, for a price of several hundred dollars.

The unit CAN be equipped with encryption, either hardware or software, for a fairly large price.

According to Bruce, who has a pretty good clue, MDC decode is standard in the current firmware, no flash option required. I believe this to be the case.

You will discover that proper grammer, capitalization, and punctuation will make your posts much easier to read... and make people much more willing to help you. Take a read of your post before you hit submit... ask yourself if you would want your mother/English teacher/etc. to read that post. If the answer is no... take another run at it. Thanks.

The ability to display decoded id's was a $75 flash upgrade. We got bit on three of them our sales team ordered wrong. That was three months ago, maybe they include it now. But the ability to decode mdc (selcal radio check etc) was a separate option from displaying id's.

Generally speaking, the decode option is H14 - Display ID. It is quite possible that its being included at no charge now with the newer radios, but I don't have any first hand experiences with them at the moment.

However, if you do get a 2500 without the feature, $75 and a trip to your MSS for an upgrade will do the trick.

Thank you PJ. I believed that to be correct however I was not certain. These radios were purchased almost a year ago so if it did not come standard as of 3 months ago... well theres our problem. Sometimes moto boggles the mind.

tvsjr,

Thank you for your insight on my grammer and spelling. I have no issue with my mother/english teacher reading any of my posts on this board. I truly do not appreciate being treated like a child simply because I do not have the time to perfect every post I produce. If you arent willing to help because of my typos then simply do not reply.
