Leather Holder for XTS5K that covers display????

Post by jmr061 »

I will eventually be using my XTS5k at work. From the experience with my XTK3k I figure I want a leather D swivel case that COVERS the keypad and the display (seatbelt hitting the keys on the keypad and scratching the display). I have looked for one but can't seem to find one that covers the display along with the key.

Anyone aware of any aftermarket ones or something that would fit the bill for this?

Thanks

Try Bee Case at http://www.beecase.com. I did not see any pictures of the leather case they make for the 5000's, so I don't know how much it covers. But they do make a Durus Nylon case for the 5000's, they have some pictures online. The pictures of the full keypad show a jedi unit, but the picture of the model II case are of a XTS3000.

I have seen some ruggedized plastic ones on eBay where it covers the whole display/keypad, and flips down (kinda like an old cell phone) when you want to use it. Kinda big and bulky; mebey good for fireground stuff but I don't know about wearing that sucker on your belt.

If I can find an eBay link to one I can PM it to you.

Go to (http://www.thefirestore.com), and order the leather holster for the Model 1 XTS5000.. It will cover the keypad and display with no problem..

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

XTS5K Case

Hey Jason, Don’t know if this would help, but do you think you could modify an existing case to fit your specific needs (i.e. take a case to a leather shop)? There’s someone that works for my department that works with all types of leather. He’s repaired leather fire boots, he made from scratch leather shield fronts to fire helmets (with lots of detail), does leather sewing, etc. I don’t know if you have a case that you “wish” would have a window cut out, or another type modification, but still want that pristine new look (not red-necked out, LOL). If you have any questions fire away and I’ll call him for you.

Describe on here exactly what features you want in a case (i.e. plastic window over screen/buttons, or completely covered screen/buttons; leather, plastic, neoprene?) Paint us a picture...

Stay safe, Daniel

Jason...I am ordering a custom one for my display HT1250, and if I like it I'll be getting one for the 5k. I am placing the order tomorrow and hopefully have it by the end of the week.

Catch me online later today or tomorrow.

Besides the scratches and pushing buttons you may also want to add the keypad lock to the ABC switch and Mute to the menu. Before you put the radio in the case just lock the keypad by setting it to the A position. Keeps from hearing the beeps with mute turned on and changing menu items by being locked. :D
