Astro firmware refresh
I have a I-button that says it is a astro 25 portable firmware refresh. Am I correct that this is for the xts5k and such, making it useless to me and my astro saber. Also will this only work on certain radios, or any xts5k that has lower firmware?
Yes, that is for the Astro25 series of portables only.. IE, XTS5000, XTS2500, and so on.. It wont work with the Astro Saber or XTS3000.

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

wanna bet on that?

The extensions can very. Each radio/firmware version has a different file. There literally couly be a hundred or more firmware version files.
You figure the XTS5k is at 9.00.03,the XTS3k is at 7.71.00, etc. Just think how many flashport radios types there are and how many firmware revisions there have been for each.

Re: Astro firmware refresh
What hardware is required for the upgrade, I have the firmware refresh i-button and reader, with available flashes. My astro saber, a saber service cable with the pin moved on the db25 to program the astro sabers, and access to a smartrib. The smartrib is a version "c" I think I read that it had to be a "d" is that true? Will this cable work or do I have to get/ build a new cable.
Re: Astro firmware refresh

The Saber cable will not work for flashing, even with the one line moved. It does not have the boot line.
