XTS5k Test Mode Beep

Post by Rayjk110 »

I've noticed that my 5k model3, when you put it into "test mode" (ie hit the button 5 times...) it makes sorta a nextel-ish noise. I was told this only happens with radios DSP8 and up, however mine is Host/DSP7. Just found this interesting.

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

That beep your hearing lets you know that it has rebanding compliant firmware loaded.

Actually I believe that is the normal tone for the XTS/XTL5k. If you have an XTS3k 800 mhz or Astro Spectra 800 mhz with rebanding firmware then it will do the same tone as the XTS/XTL5k when you put it in service mode.

Oh ok. Mine is VHF, but I guess firmware is the same for each band of radios then I would suspect.
