Smartnet and Q53 in an XTS5000?????
Guys,
I was told by Motorola that these two options can not be in an XTS5000 together. I am aware that you can not program any trunk info from keypad but you should be able to do conventional stuff, right? Let me know if you guys have seen this before. Thanks in advance...

You can have a Smartnet or Smartzone system package along with Q52 or Q53 in the radio together.. FPP only on the conventional side.
You just cant get this combo directly from Moto thats all.

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

I am aware that you can get it in a radio from other sources, but I am talking Motorola Direct. I was just wondering if anyone knows different.

Q53 is only officially available in VHF, conventional only
no uhf, no trunking
anything else is a hackjob.

I disagree. I have played with/used (quite recently) a fully legit R-split Q53 radio with IMBE and SZOL, full tags, through proper distribution channels, etc. 100% legit radio.grem467 wrote:Q53 is only officially available in VHF, conventional only

Well as anyone here knows, if you order enough of them, Motorola will make an SP with just about anything the customer requests. Although, I can't imagine Motorola not offering the 5k with FPP and Trunking in V and U bands. The capability is there, why not make it available?

did the radio come from motorola? i have seen some pretty "legit" looking UHFs complete with "valid" serial numbers, etc that were quite the whored radio.
bottom line is our fed salesguy at the mss inquired about some FPP radios for our emergency cache, and was told by motorola we could have all the VHF non trunks we want, but they do not make a UHF in any flavor.

Yep, absolutely... purchased by a gov't entity straight from M. As usual, the problem is the sales reps...grem467 wrote:did the radio come from motorola? i have seen some pretty "legit" looking UHFs complete with "valid" serial numbers, etc that were quite the whored radio.

Guys,
Just so everyone is aware, I could order as many XTS5000 Model 3 "S" split radios with Conventional and Q53 option as I wanted. They just advised me that they could not do a Smartnet or smartzone with Q53 option.....
