More than 512

Can a xts5000 do more than 512 channels with FPP? I have both UHF and VHF with R09 host/dsp.

Yes. The new firmware supports 832 or some such modes, even with the Q52 option.

When I open my CPS it says max is 512. I just got these back from the depot last month for the firmwear ugrade. So what do I do now to get the missing channels?

More importantly, what is the flashcode?

you need to remember that with FFP you can have 850 channels but only 256 personalities (any combo of conv and trunked)

the other thing to keep in mind is that each channel does not need a unique personality, the only time you need a different personality (conv) is if you have a different signaling setup, different id or change in rx/tx type (analog,mixed or digital) also each trunked personality will hold 48 talkgroups

In respect to the trunking thing...not really topic related, but from what I've heard/seen, they aren't the best things in the world if you want to use it for RX only trunking, at least on VHF anyway.

(edited to remove ambiguity)

That's why it has been said over and over on the board, if you want a RX only radio for a trunked system (ie: YOU are not authorized to be on the system!! ), buy a scanner.

VHF = 120001-000102-2
and
UHF = 5B9008-041687-4

*edit*

after posting this I read the radios again. The VHF now shows 850 and the UHF still shows 512

That 5B flash might be giving you problems because that flashcode contains a couple options that have since been integrated into the firmware.. The H101 Conv repeater access being one of them..

I recently upgraded the firmware in a Mod 2 800mhz 5K, and after the upgrade to R09.00.03 from R04 something, it still showed the max of 512 chans.. I had the flashcode changed in the radio from 540008-000480-6 to 589008-101E87-8, and after that, 850 max appeared.

Certain options that used to be flash options, are now included in the more recent firmware versions, and may cause a conflict with each other..

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
