Hi All, I have a AS I that works [well sort of] it has a loose stud on the bottom of the frame, I have a good bare frame and I would like to find some one that can put the channel, squelch knobs and ect on the bare frame. Steve

You would probably be best off to order a replacement frame WITH those parts already on it direct from Motorola.

Attempting to transfer over the existing flex circuits may be unsuccessful as the flex circuits don't really like that
sort of treatment.

I can assure you, I've beaten dents in my head over issues that turned out to be bad flex circuits!

IF you can get the flex circuit kits (with controls) separately, then it's not too hard to put them on your bare frame,
but before you do it, inspect your frame VERY carefully to be sure it really is 100 percent. Put a correct screw in every
screw hole to be sure they're not stripped or cross-threaded. Look for frame warping, dents, or ANYTHING wrong.

Is it possible to remove the radio from the frame and possibly tighten the stud, maybe some two part epoxy or a bit of solder? I haven't really looked at how they are held in place. Removing the flex will probably destroy it, unless it is a new or almost new flex.

I e powied the studs and so far so good.

They're just pressed in. You COULD try epoxy or some other super-adhesive (JB-Weld, maybe? ), but I wouldn't count on it ever being 100% again.

A loose stud will hold a radio together, however.. the aggravation comes when you want to take it apart and the spanner nut spins freely with the stud.

If you have a dremel, you could also slot the bottom of the stud, so if it did come loose, you could hold it with a small standard screwdriver. Of course nothing is as good as a new frame, but if it were my radio, I would rather not buy a new flex if I could work with the bad frame,

Well , Thanks for the idea, I think for now I am going to let it ride it is in a 1 housing, if I ever get a 2 or 3 housing and a display I deal with it then. I e poxied the stud in place let it harden and put it together.
