Post by [email protected] »

I could use some help, I just picked up a minitor 4 and need to program the right tones into it. Dispatch gave me 2 lists. One they called Motorola one they called Zetron.. I could use some help deciphering what they mean. Anyone have ideas?

Code: Select all

ID	Department	Code	QC	CA	Select Frequency	Field7
25	EM MANAGER	9927	II	EK	FIRE

ID	Department	Code	QC	CA	Select Frequency	Field7
31	Warning 9913	II	DF	FIRE

Well the motorola code could be a couple of different combos as I have seen motorola codes decoded in different ways.

I would say that maybe tones for the "EM MANAGER" would be tone A from group # 9 tone # 2, and Tone B would be group # 9 tone # 7.

I deciphered this by how our old fire tones went with the capcode of 1110. It translated to 111 for tone A which was 349.0Hz and 110 for tone B which was 330.5Hz

If you call Zetron or go on-line to get a manual for the Zetron product which is programmed with the tone code and it should have a table in there for decoding.

I would say the second tone warning would be tone A = tone group # 9 tone # 1 and tone B = tone group # 9 tone # 3.

Once again we would look at 9913 as 991 and 993. If go to some place like http://www.midians.com or do a google search for Quick Call 2 code plans you should pull up something.

The other way to do all of this is as follows:

1.) Go on the web and download the freeware program called CoolEdit 96 and install it on your computer.
2.) Do a search and download or get a copy of the code plan chart which shows the tone freq. in Hz as it relates to numbering.
3.) Connect your scanner or radio into your computer when they do a pager or tone test and record the tones.
4.) Analyze the tone freq with CoolEdit 96 and compare tone freq on CoolEdit 96 to tones on the chart.
(Example = I did the above mentioned and recorded the tones, when I analyzed the tone tone CoolEdit said it was 1088.5 Hz Well I looked at the tone chart and found that there is no 1088.5Hz but there was a 1092.4Hz and sure enough that is what it was.)

Then you would have your tones.

Good luck, the other maybe easy way is to call the radio shop that does your service and ask them for the tones. If you are auth. they should not have a problem handing them over.

I called the radio shop.. but they didnt have the right one I needed. Since the tone I want is not used very often only for our EMD people they dont have it on the list. But they were able to provide me with the entire list they had.. I then spent a few hours last night adding the Zetron and motorola codes I got from dispatch.. Then I went to the front page on batlabs and found a tone chart that matched the existing tones.. They all fit into the comtegra 4 digit tone chart.. Spent the night confirming it on the ones I already new..

So I am pretty sure I have them.. But I will do some more playing..

simplest way to do this is to borrow someone's minitor III or Minitor IV that is already programmed and working. Take it with you and the programmer dudes can read that pager and program yours with the identical tone layout. Otherwise, look at batlabs.com. I am not sure exactly where it's at, but there's somewhere there that tells you how to decode those things
