First off, let me ask if my idea can pass test #1, Does anyone know if the DirecTalk frequencies in NexTels will be under the "old" band plan for 800MhZ, abd therefore be available to public safety under rebanding?
If so, #2, would it be possible to take an old VSLEP Host/DSP board, and switch either to a newer revision board, thus allowing talk on the DirecTalk frequencies, but on an astro saber or XTS 3000? I realize this would take a lot of someone's time and effort, but is it theoretically possible? I know the cell/direct connect parts are VSLEP (or used to be on older phones), but I'm not sure about the DirecTalk feature.
I think it would be interseting to be talking to your phone from your radio, and vise-versa.

IIRC Direct Talk uses the 900 band not the 800, so the rebanding scam plan should have no impact on DT.

OK, well it was a nice idea for the 2 seconds it lasted...MTS2000des wrote:IIRC Direct Talk uses the 900 band not the 800, so the rebanding scam plan should have no impact on DT.
