I know this is a dumb question but it's so long since I programmed a systems saber i've forgotten how to do it...
Where in the RSS do I set up the MDC PTT ID on an individual channel basis?
Thanks,
Jake

Re: Systems Saber MDC
Bump...
To clarify what I am asking... I have enabled MDC in the codeplug of my two VHF Systems Sabers. I cannot find where I can turn on the PTT-ID for the channels I want. I have access to status, messaging, selective calling, etc, but not PTT ID. I'm using RSS Ver 4.00.02.
Any ideas?

Re: Systems Saber MDC
Presuming you have already programmed the MDC parameters (only one MDC "system" per radio), go to the conventional personality page for the channel you want to send the PTT-ID, press F9, and enable PTT-ID.
Re: Systems Saber MDC
PTT-ID is not an option on that screen. That's the first place I tried. What I have on that screen is options to enable Selective Calling, Radio Check, etc.RKG wrote:Presuming you have already programmed the MDC parameters (only one MDC "system" per radio), go to the conventional personality page for the channel you want to send the PTT-ID, press F9, and enable PTT-ID.

Re: Systems Saber MDC
Having never seen a Systems Saber with did not offer PTT-ID on that screen, I have no clue.
Re: Systems Saber MDC
Anyone else have any ideas? This is starting to drive me nuts as I need to get MDC ID going on my two Systems Sabers.

Re: Systems Saber MDC
Jake,
I am also using RSS Ver 4.00.02 with a 403 to 433 MHZ Split UHF Model 3 Radio which is a Con 6-0.
1st - "F6-Conventional Data"
2nd - "F2-MDC1200 Option" - I hit F2 and ask to create system and I said yes. I also set all of my parameters here. Make sure you select When you want to TX your MDC in the "Unit ID" Field.
3rd - "F8- Conventional Personality Field" Select which channel you want to have MDC TX'ed.
4th - Hit "F9-Signaling" with in the "F8" Menu. You should now see
"MDC PTT Unit ID - This is how my MDC on a per channel basis was programmed."
I just checked a radio that has a Con5-0 in it and this also works with that.
Hopefully get same results

I went through these steps and got the same results I had before.. however.. I decided I would try changing my PTT-ID setting from Post to Pre, and after that Unit ID can be selected in the F9 screen. I guess that's just a quirk of the Systems Sabers....RADIO43 wrote:Jake,

So for the benefit of anyone who has the same problem in the future, you must set the PTT-ID to "Pre" for it to work.
Thanks guys!

Mea culpa: I should have remembered that. Around this neck of the woods, post-IDs are not used, as they are useless for detecting stuck mikes.
