I'm registered now to buy direct from Mother M online.
It APPEARS that the cost of the XTS5000/2500 CPS is 118 dollars.
I'll buy that in a heartbeat!
But...does it support the Astro Saber as well?
Does the newest Astro RSS support the Astro Saber?

Nope, Astro25 Portable CPS is $265. You can buy the software package that will do Portable and Mobile Astro25 radios for an extra $120 or so, but only if you order the combo package. If you buy them piecemeal you pay full sticker for each one.
Astro Saber software is a different package than Astro25 CPS, so no, the XTS5K software will not program an Astro Saber.
Oh, and watch out for the shipping and handling fees - they're ridiculous.

Considering that the cost of the EDACS programming software from M/A-Com is about 2500 bucks, 265 plus too much in shipping and handling still looks like
a pretty decent bargain!
And that price...for the EDACS programmer...is for ONE installation. They use an online authentication procedure for ALL installs of the newer
versions of the software. If you need an additional installation, it'll cost about an extra grand per install.
If your install crashes, they will want to see the dead hard drive (and analyze it to be sure the software was actually on it) before allowing you
to reinstall without additional charges.
