Colored Batteries For Astro Saber???

Post by themedic66 »

HEllo all,

I'm trying to purchase a blue-bottom alexander battery for my AStro Saber 3. I have noticed that sometimes officers are issued pink/purple, or yellow-bottom batteries. Does Anyone know where I can get one from?? I tried the alexander website, and called but didn't have any luck. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks

Haven't seen these come this way. Many agencies paint their own with the color indicating the work shift so all batteries get cycled.
Fusion by Krylon ( sold by Wal-Mart and others) does the trick.

They are made for LAPD. I believe the ones I purchased were from Ebay user kccode7.

I presume you mean that kind of thing?

You can tell that the yellow in that picture has been painted off, as evidenced by the spots on the bottom where it's flaked/rubbed off.

That Krylon Fusion stuff works wonders. We use it at work for some stuff and it's durable as hell. IIRC, it has some kind of chemistry in the paint that allows it to actually bond to the plastic, not just stick on like ordinary spray paint does.

For identification purposes on radios / batteries we needed it on, we would use the same 3M reflective tape we used on the side of the patrol cars. I still have a few old batteries marked in this manner. It is pretty common forsome agencies.

They are a special order item for LAPD and LAFD. The color bottom is used for easy battery maintenance identification. IE red is a 2007 issue battery, etc. Not sure if you can but them from the manufacture that way. I've seen them on E-bay
