Quick question here, just looking for a definitive answer. I have a CDM1550LS+ that is all programmed, but was taken out of the cruiser from another town and donated. The programming is all good, but the speaker is not sounding, not even the power up tone. My question is do I need some sort of jumper on the accessory connector to get the face speaker to work?
Thanks

Re: CDM1550LS+ speaker problem
I had a CDM1550 that had a problem like that and the issue was the the audio amplifier was blown in the radio. TX was fine but no receive audio came from the speaker when receiving an on channel signal. The CDM mobiles need no jumper like the Maxtrac/Radius to get the speaker to work. I hope that is not the issue but maybe the speaker leads were grounded somehow causing the amp to blow out.
Re: CDM1550LS+ speaker problem
Another possibility was the internal speaker was simply unplugged if the unit was installed with an external speaker. Some people like to do that for some reason...worth a look inside to check. It could even be a defective internal speaker. Do you have an external one to try?

Re: CDM1550LS+ speaker problem
Thank you guys, I opened it up and the speaker was indeed unplugged!! Thanks again!
Re: CDM1550LS+ speaker problem
It would be because the CDM series still unmutes the internal speaker, even if an external speaker is hooked up.wavetar wrote:Some people like to do that for some reason...
Re: CDM1550LS+ speaker problem
Oh I realize that, it's just 99% of the time, I would think you'd want both to work...sitting in a vehicle it's hard to tell which one you're hearing unless one is right next to your ear, so why not have both working? Unless you're trying to run a 2-ohm external speaker & are afraid of over-driving the audio amplifier or something.escomm wrote:It would be because the CDM series still unmutes the internal speaker, even if an external speaker is hooked up.wavetar wrote:Some people like to do that for some reason...
