You won't have any problems with that flashcode. It's the mobile equivalent of 1C5E, and definitely not a Nick creation.

What "issues" did the 591008-4F1E00-9 flashcode have?

4F1E has some options turned on that aren't compatible with IMBE... software encryption being one (VSELP only). I've had a few 4F1Es and they work fine... as long as you don't turn on the wrong thing, then they get weird.

The 1C5E (portable)/145E (mobile) flashcode is whored... but doesn't have incompatible features turned on, thus it tends to be stable.

So as long as you're not using OTAR/OTACS or Software Encryption, you won't have issues. Correct?

Usually.

4F1E, if installed properly and working right, won't cause you a problem as long as you stay away from software crypto and OTACR/OTACS. Note: OTAR will work fine (I presume you made a typo).

145E/1C5E don't have such problems.

However, since 4F1E has spread to far more idiots than 145E/1C5E, it's often an indication that the radio may have been improperly whored, and may have other problems. You could have similar issues with a 145E/1C5E... but it's much more unlikely. Also, many of the 4F1E radios were never properly aligned... thus, they may suck, especially on digital.

Of course, if you have a clue as most people here do, pretty much any issue can be fixed.

Yep. Professionally I will not work on 4F1E radios, though I've never come across them in my work. Customer would have two options: Depot, or take it back out the door the way you came in.

The 4F1E radios I have come across as a hobbyist were in dire need of realignment. They were placed on an R2670 with the GD Autotest software, and were properly aligned. Amazing difference. I automatically assume any 4F1E radio purchased on eBay, etc. will need a full alignment.

You're correct, I meant to specify OTACR/OTACS, as OTAR has nothing to do with either of those things, obviously...
