xts5000 beep

Have a 5k that when I key up beeps. This is on a conventional system and this is the only radio that does this. Does this have anything to do with the UCM in the radio? Can the "beep" be disabled within the CPS?

If it's a short beep, then it's probably the "Clear Alert" tone to let you know when you are not encrypted. This can be changed under "Radio Configuration/Secure/Secure Configuration" under the advanced tab. If you do not want it to emit a beep, uncheck the "TX Clear Alert Tone".

If it's a long beep, then it's a side tone feature - part of MDC.
