Does anyone here use a KVL3000/+ in ASTRO25 mode?

This forum is dedicated to discussions pertaining specifically to the Motorola ASTRO line of radios (those that use VSELP/IMBE/AMBE), including using digital modulation, digital programming, FlashPort upgrades, etc. If you have general questions please use the General or Programming forums.

As Title says, Does anyone here use a KVL3000/+ in ASTRO25 mode? Or is everyone pretty much still using the legacy ASN stuff..?

Yes, but only to keyload competitor's equipment. It is a relatively expensive upgrade.

The local sheriff's office is on a conventional P-25 VHF frequency and we use DSE-OFB. The decrypted voice quality is amazing - to the point where I have to be looking at the display on my XTS5000 to see if they are secure or in the clear. We use the KVL3000 Plus to load all of the radios. It is an extremely expensive piece of equipmet, but pretty straightfoward to use.
