What radios do you own?: Motorola Astro III 800mhz

Newbie Question on Program Layout

Post by techshop »

Hello to all,

I just bought my first Astro Saber III 800mhz APCO-25. Hopefully soon I will have my account with M and can order the RSS for the radio. My question to the group is simple and hopefully could be answered. I am looking for a chart, or example on how the freqs, and zones on the Astro should be configured? I want to layout my freqs/channels/zones prior to inputing them into the radio.

Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated. You could also e-mail off-line, if need be.

Thanks,
David

I don't think there is a canned "system planner" chart for these radios, but you can do this planning on your own using a spreadsheet.

Since you're talking about an 800 radio, I'm guessing that you are an authorized user on a trunked system. If that is so, much of the planning has been implicitly done for you by the System Operator, and his guidance would be critical.

If you're not an authorized user, but plan on using the radio simply to monitor other people's trunked systems, I urge you to search out some of the prior threads on the viability of such an approach.
