Wierd Astro Spectra & 3011DX Encryption Problem

Post by TXCAP »

All,
I have a problem! I have a VHf astro spectra which I am needing to keyload. It Keyloads fine but after the load it will not open squelch or recv. traffic,(CODED TRAFFIC) BUT! if I hit Monitor it will RX (CODED TRAFFIC). And if I TX on said radio, dispatch will only hear the raw cypher ("R2D2" effect). If I keyload it with a KVL3k It works fine. Am I missing a setting in the 3011DX or A. Spectra? Any help is appreciated I need to resolve this ASAP with the equipment I have now. (3011DX)

Thanks!!!!

first off let me say if i am wrong somebody please correct me

have you used the 3011dx to keyload other radios? if yes are they working properly?

it sound like you may have a wrong key in the dx key loader. at least i have loaded the wrong key in one of my radios and got the R2D2 effect you spoke of.

you may double check the XL on transmit box in the cps of the astro spectra an make sure it is or is not checked depending on your system setup.

just a couple of ideas

keep us posted

sounds like wrong key to me too.

just because it's receiving coded traffic .... - that means that the radio is properly using the correct key to decrypt....as it should. i.e. proper code detect.

the fact that dispatch can't hear you means that the proper key is not in the proper slot.
