Astro and 900 mhz?

Post by ke7jvx »

Is there an astro that can be converted or that will go into the amateur 900 mhz band (902-928)?

No luck in making it do digital, or no luck whatsoever to get one to do the 255 channels? I'd really like to make a W-3 900 for ham use, but don't care squat about it doing digital.

No luck in making a 900 astro period. They made no RF board for it.

And no one has been able to trick a VCO and/or RF board into locking into the lower 900 ham freqs?

What models? Where I work has several 900mhz TRSs, and I was wondering what they could use as replacements when they need to buy more radios. The GTX is a joke for replacing a MCS2000

The GTX was never a replacement for the MCS2000. The MCS series was superseded by the XTL series. GTX is a Radius radio, or pretty damn close to it, since it's in the Radius price pages...

Fake edit: The GTX series is fully canceled now as well.

What I meant is that the last tie I looked on their website, the GTX was the only PP 900 mobile they showed. The company uses a ton of maxtracs, with some spectras and MCS2000s as bases and a few mobiles.

Ah, fair enough. I do concede that going to a GTX from an MCS is like going to a Yugo from a Lexus 8)

According to the firmware notes all you need is cps and firmware version 10.

Has anyone ever seen an actual 900 mhz XTS2500 radio or know if they have even been released yet?

I realize that this is a weiner question, but I wonder if they will program and operate into the ham band.
