HT750 public safety microphone
I have a low band HT750. I bought a VHF public safety mic for it. I thought it would work, but it's proving me wrong. Does anyone know if this speaker mic should work with a low band radio? And if not, why?

Re: HT750 public safety microphone
Maybe because the antenna would be TOO FREAKIN' HUGE?
Really, I don't know - maybe something to do with the ground plane or RF traveling through the cable? I know, I know...what kind of ground plane can an HT give you anyway, but I'm just throwing out an idea.

Vote for Pedro.
Re: HT750 public safety microphone
would length of the actual cable have anything to do with anything? i've honestly allways had horrible reception on the VHF side using the /\/\ stubby vhf antennas.. and im SURE you don't have the full VHF antenna up there...
Re: HT750 public safety microphone
I'm a wildlife officer and out in remote areas very often. I need all the help I can get with reception and transmissions. I was hoping that by having the antenna up on my shoulder, it would improve both, but it sucks.
Re: HT750 public safety microphone
Best I can suggest is to use a standard speaker mic and talk through it while holding the actual radio up in the air. That's what we have to do here on our 46mhz simplex system.
