I have a 2 channel ht1000 that I would like to convert to 16. According to the model specific page for this model you change a byte in the codeplug to hex 0F. Unfortunately both the 16 and 2 channel plugs have an 0F in this position??? Either the model specific page is in error or I have something else going on here.
Anyone done this conversion?
Also the model specific page mentions the "mode utility" for the ht1000. Where is that? I can't find it in my RSS.
It's been a long time since I worked with one of these so I may be wacked out here
RSS ver is: R03.03.00
My 16 channel radio is: H01KDC9AA3DN The 2 channel is: H01KD9AA1BN
Thanks
according to your model number it's already a 16 channel. a good way to confirm is to see if there is an RF switch in the radio, press the switch in while listening to a carrier and see if it sounds like the antenna is actually switched out of line. maybe someone swapped cases?

Hello. 16 ch is the max on the HT 1000. According to the ser # your radio is 16 ch. Can't add any more. A similar looking MTX can have 3 banks of 16 ch = 48 total. Hope this helps. GARY N4KVE
Yes I know 16 is the max. It only has 2 in it. How do i get more in? I don't see a ad mode utility like batlabs says. I can deal with the 2 channel knob I just can't figure how to add more channels. thanks

Try this link and read the HT-1000 conversion section
saberjerk wrote:Thanks for the link. Now tell me where is RSS for the ht1000 is a "mode utility"? I'm not seeing it.
I don't have my laptop in front of me, but if I remember correctly on the pages where you enter the frequencies you want in each channel, there is an F key (F1, F2, etc...) that takes you to the mode utility and at that point you can add or delete channels (or modes). Sorry I can't be more specific, but I can check later tonight and tell you for sure. Hope this helps.
There is no F key in the frequency entry window the has anything remotely to do with adding modes.
When I check radio wide info it say this is a 2 channel radio?????
Read the batlabs info in the link you gave me. Says there is a mode utility.
I can't find it.

When I go in to work tonight, I'll check my laptop and post the info. It's there, I just can't remember exactly where.
There is no mode utility in the HT1000 RSS, or need for one. Simply using F4 will cycle you through all 16 modes, each of which has a parameter called "Programmed" that controls whether the channel is available or boops "unprogrammed".
ok, so then I DON'T have a 16 channel radio since all the modes don't show up? right?
Then why is the hex code shown by batlabs set like a 16 channel radio??? It is 0Fh
Why does batlabs mention a mode utility????
How then do I change this to a 16 channel radio???? Is it possible???

I was mistaken on the mode utility for the HT-1000 rss. It seems I was thinking about Maxtrac rss, but there may be a mode utility on HT-1000 lab software (which I don't have access to). Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
BTW if you ever need the mode utility on Maxtrac rss it is F8 under "Change/Create/View Codeplug data.
check your email, it worked for me the first time and the directions on the ht1000 page are right on and very clear.

Thanks for your help jeff. The radio work fine and has 16 channels now. But that still doesn't answer some of the questions I had.
Was I doing something wrong with my hex editor? I did find a hex "0F" in the position for changing channel
count. I can't explain that, can you?
Also there is no mode utility for the ht1000.
So did I do something wrong or is there somewhere else to change the channels?
i wasn't there watching you do it so I can't say what you did or didn't do right or wrong. there is no add/delete channel utility for the ht1000's. note too that radio is a B version and will not do narrow band.
