Flash Upgrade question

Post by jhccradio »

Hello all,

Sorry for the questions but I have been calling motorola and I still cannot get a straight answer from them.. I am looking to Flash a few radios that I purchased a while ago, when I call motorola and give them the model numbers and serial numbers of the radio with the options I need flashed, the tech on the phone sees the options, but not the Mototola part numbers, associated with the options. First I would like to flash the following equipment myself, (I am going to purchase a smart rib and anything else needed I think the dongle) If someone out there can help with the part numbers so I can order it through Mototora or the motorola website it would be helpful..

Mototola Spectra T99DX+161W_ASTRO Flash code 000001-002000-5 11.00.01.00 / DSP: A07.03.06
I would need part Numbers for the following Flash Upgrade or information on how to order the options:
DIGITAL CAI OPERATION IMBE/APCO-25 G806
DIGITAL ID DISPLAY G114
MULTIKEY SOFTWARE ENCRYPTION ?? (if needed)
MULTIKEY W969

Motorola XTS-3000 UHF 403-470 MHz
DIGITAL ID DISPLAY H14
MULTIKEY H869

Thanks in advance for the help,

Calling a tech at Moto usually won't get you anywhere. You typically would need to go to your local dealer and order the Flashport Upgrades.

You'll need the following equipment if you want to do it yourself:

RLN1015D
SRIB INERFACE BOX
List $595

RKN4047A
PROGRAMMING CABLE (Service/Flash Astro Spectra)
List $119

RKN4035D
CABLE, PROGRAM & TEST, JEDI (Service/Flash XTS3000)
List $227

You may be able to find these on the used market for less. I would not use anything but OEM cables and equipment to do flash upgrades, the risk of ending up with a brick is too high to do it any other way.

As for software (these are all rough list prices off the top of my head):

On the Astro Spectra:
APCO 25 Operation: $550
Digital ID Display: $75
Multikey Encryption: $350

Multikey Software Encryption is only available with VSELP radios, and thus not applicable here.

On the XTS 3000:
Digital ID Display: $75
Multikey Encryption: $350

If you only have a couple of radios and this is a one-shot deal, you might just consider having the dealer do it, if they know how and have the equipment. The Flashport upgrades should come with the latest shipping firmware for each radio, which they should apply at the time of the upgrade (especially with the P25 uplift on the Astro Spectra, you'll need it).

Hopefully this info helps.
