Saber RSS R07.01.00 hangs up my PC on exit

Post by MotoFAN »

Hi all!

I have a stranger problem with Saber RSS.

I have a nice working RSS R07.01.00 (p/n RVN4002K), but when I try to exit from it (presses F10/F10), I get a completely hanged PC :( Only hard reset can bring PC to the life.

Meanwhile RSS R07.00.00 (p/n RVN4002J don't) hangs up my PC!

Any ideas?

P.S.
I use original RSS R07.01.00 (not a modified HAM version!) recently installed from diskette.

P.S.
My PC is ok - I use it to program MTSX, MaxTrac, GM300, MX2000 & etc.
I am biggest fan of XTS2500 and ASTRO Digital Saber.

More PC details are in order, like processor speed and type (ie. Pentium, Pentium II, AMD K6, etc), operating system, RAM, and so on. Also, details of the exact procedure you are following.

My guess (and it is a guess) is that you are attempting to use this DOS-based RSS in a DOS window under some flavor of windows.

When a DOS program exits, it sends a DOS command to the OS instructing it that it is returning control of the stack register to the OS. There are various ways to implement this command.

Windows doesn't like this approach.

For reasons discussed in multiple prior threads, a DOS-based RSS should not be run in a Windows DOS window.
