All the channel layouts I've seen look like they only used analog on VHF and UHF. Do you have the flashcode of the radios?

I don't know about the history of their radios but from what I've seen, VHF radios are VSELP capable while UHF ones have analog only DSP.

My VHF ASII flashcode is 800001-000000-2, R02.02.00 I03.04.03. Yes it states H35 operation only and yes it does VSELP ALSO, and oh, even though it looks like a ASII, when I pop the case open, it turns out to be a ASIII under the hood  .

I have one of the old LACO FD ASII's, interesting note, I dragged and dropped personalities from my IMBE XTS3000 VHF, and it took all the digital ones. It does transmit a VSELP digital signal- just opens the digital CSQ on my XTS...these are ancient Astro Sabers. They are fine if all you want is an ANALOG portable, 250 channels- but without a vocon changeout they will never be capable of IMBE. Being that Ma M is dumping support for the Astro Saber, don't count on that being an affordable option. The one I got is in mint shape, with a serial number of 1994. Probably be worth more for nostalgic purposes to fire department collectors (has very professional engraving on the front) than it will be as a radio.

LA County FD never used VSELP, in fact they don't even use subaudible tones, everything is CSQ....

On VHF..

On UHF they transmit PL on mobiles and portables, CSQ RX.

Most of the LACFD VHF Sabers are NOT Astros.
