Yes, CPS runs on windows.

I don't think there is a factory cable, but there are aftermarket serial ribless cables that do work. I'm not sure if I'd trust an aftermarket USB cable if there is one.

Does anyone know where to find the aftermarket cables? I have a MTS200 and a few XTS300 that I need to get programmed and I was told that the cabel would work on both.
Thanks

That is correct. The same cable will work on both. The cable is also compatible with the MT2000, JT1000, HT1000. Basically all of the Jedi Series.

You can find the pinouts on the main Batlabs site under "MTS2000" and then "Programming Cable Pinout" if you want to build one. Other than that, you could check the for sale thread on here, or there's always Ebay. There are usually lots of them on there.

You can also fabricate a programming cable from an old speaker/mic, but you would have to rearrange a couple of pins in the process, and that will require opening up the adaptor and removing wires and soldering them to new locations, not to mention the pins also.

Nope, the latest version is Astro CPS R05.03.00 - windows based s/w.

How do you put an XTS3000 in the programming mode to program it?

There are two similar icons at the top of the CPS main page. One is to read the radio and other is to write to the radio. So you read the radio, put in your program changes, then write to the radio. That's oversimplifying things but it's essentially how the thing works.

Sorry to bring this topic back up after so long. But I ment on the portable it self. Like you hit the side 3 button 5 times for service mode, is there a button you have to hit so many times to put the portable into a programming mode?

The side buttons on the XTS3000 or 5000 have NOTHING to do with programming the radio. To program the radio, or read it, all you do to the radio is be certain it has a good battery connected and is turned on. That's it. Everything else is done via the computer program and the RIB (3000 only, the 5000 doesn't use a RIB). When the program/computer is communicating with the radio the radio's display will read PROGRAM MODE. Again, keep your mitts off the radio when programming, otherwise you may have big problems.

This is my cable:
http://wiscomm.com/productimages/riblessxts525.jpg
but I am reading now that it is for the XTS 2500 and XTS 5000. Is there different pin setups for the 3000 vs the 2500 and 5000?

3000's can use a Jedi cable with a RIB. The 2500's and 5000's use a ribless

So from what you are saying, I need a RIB box for the 3000 even though the cable said ribless?

I personally don't trust a ribless cable. The only one I have is my OEM motorola XTS5000/2500 cable. If you have a ribless for a jedi it should work with a 3000
